Willetton Architect Renovation

Recast Residence

High-Performance Retrofit ● Residential Design

Designed by Matt Burleigh ● Under Construction

Recast House is a sustainable renovation designed by Cynosure Architecture for a growing family in Willetton. Located on the front lot of the Hilltop Residence’s rear battleaxe site, the project transforms an outdated double brick structure into a modern, architect-designed home. While not certified to Passive House standards, the design prioritises improved energy performance, contemporary form, and a refined interior palette tailored to long-term comfort and functionality.

Designed as the final family home for long-term living, Recast House reworks an existing two-storey double brick home in Willetton into a modern, energy-efficient residence. The original structure is retained and upgraded with high-performance windows, new external insulation, and contemporary Colorbond cladding—improving thermal comfort while preserving embodied carbon. Guided by strong, modern Australian forms, the extension is paired with a thoughtful, architect-led interior redesign that elevates everyday living through spatial flow, natural light, and material richness.

Timber detailing brings warmth and cohesion to the redesigned interiors, offering a tactile counterpoint to the sleek stone, soft-textured finishes, and clean lines of this architect-designed renovation in Willetton.

More than just a performance upgrade, Recast House is a study in balance between retention and renewal, raw materiality and refined comfort, efficiency and expression. The design reimagines the existing structure as a modern, energy-efficient family home, carefully tailored to the evolving needs of a large household. With a focus on durability, spatial flow, and quiet luxury, every detail supports long-term liveability. Construction has commenced, with the project currently being finalised by Cynosure Architecture.
