Monolith House

Luxury Minimalist Home ● Residential Design

Designed by Matt Burleigh ● Feasibility Design

Raw form takes centre stage in Monolith House—a bold feasibility concept by Cynosure Architecture that explores the limits of luxury minimalist architecture in Perth. Designed as a full demolition and rebuild, the home was envisioned as a sculptural concrete residence with dramatic overhangs, seamless indoor–outdoor flow, and a restrained, material-driven palette.

Originally conceived as a full rebuild, Monolith House was a feasibility study exploring how sculptural form and material clarity could define a luxury concrete home in Perth. While the concept pushed structural expression to its limits, it ultimately evolved into the Recast House currently under construction—retaining and reworking the existing structure while preserving the project's original design intent.

A sense of structural and spatial flow was central to the Monolith House concept—anchoring its sculptural form within a seamless indoor–outdoor living experience.

Monolith House was grounded in material honesty—off-form concrete paired with minimal detailing to create a sculptural yet restrained architectural language. Warmth and tactility were introduced through fine timber accents, natural stone, and thoughtfully selected furnishings, balancing bold geometry with subtle contrast. Though the project remained a feasibility study, it stands as a distilled expression of luxury minimalist architecture in Perth—defined by structural clarity, seamless indoor–outdoor integration, and enduring design intent.
